The story of Royston Golf Course is a magical one. Set out originally in 1869 by Lord Dunedin, and George Gossett, (son of the founder in 1864 of Westward Ho Golf Club) accolades for the course began as far back as 1892.

“A new course of eighteen holes has recently been laid out on the Heath at Royston (Herts), which in the opinion of many well-known players, will make one of the finest inland Golf grounds in the Eastern Counties. The Heath is about five minutes walk from the station, two and half miles long, and about half a mile broad, comprising of upwards of 450 acres, from 213 feet above the sea level, with natural bunkers, good greens and owing to the peculiarity of the heath land, play can be kept up all year round”.

You will not find a fairer test of your golfing skills. With two par 3s over 220 yards and a couple of driveable par 4s no two holes are alike. At 6042 yards Royston is per shot as long on average as most par 72s. The course will never cease to delight the enthusiastic golfer.
