Weekly club news December 3rdDecember 8, 2018
The club celebrated the start of December with traditional and modern competitions. A Christmas favourite – The Turkey Trot was played on Saturday and despite the wet and windy conditions, everyone had an enjoyable game. The new Captains Chris and Kim, led the ten mixed teams over 18 holes to complete the event with warm mince pies to welcome them into the Clubhouse. Then followed an evening dinner with prize giving to finish the day. In first place winners were Pete Dean and Kiyoko McLellan who received Tesco vouchers whilst this year the Pudding Pair were Darren Ellis and Sandy Griffin.
Night Golf came to Royston once again last week. The course, lit up like a runway over 6 holes, looked quite amazing and created the setting for some very interesting golf for the members who were brave enough to have a go. All players enjoyed the experience and especially the chicken pie which was waiting back at the Club. We played a Texas Scramble format and the winning team included our Professional Ryan and Captain Chris.
Other news on the Course this week saw Mial Walker winning the Thursday Roll Up with 36 points, whilst Trevor Deards came in with 35, and also Mial won the Saturday Swindle with 38 points ahead of Simon Bradfield with 35 on count back. The Friday Winter League was won by Alan Evans with 42 points, followed by Pete Law’s 39.Finally the Sunday Medal was won by Stuart Hart with a nett 67, whilst Gary Sandford came in with a nett 68
