Weekly Club News November 12thNovember 12, 2018
November is proving to be a very successful time of year for many of our golfers. The incredibly mild weather is not only encouraging players to get out on the course but also to produce good scores as well. The Autumn colours on the heath are sensational and even if the golf is not going so well, the scenery is fabulous!
This week it was the Ladies Section AGM. Following a very successful year for the Royston Ladies, they were unanimous in thanking Sandra Williams for her superb Captaincy and delighted to welcome Kim Bradfield as the incoming Captain for 2019. On the golfing front Kim and Kiyoko McLellan won the Daily Mail Qualifier played earlier in the month and on Tuesday Kim continued to play well, scoring 26 points in the 12 hole Ladies Morning Stableford, then on Thursday, winning the Bogey competition too, with Lynn Barker in second place.
On Saturday there was a terrific turnout for the Captain’s Farewell as 99 golfers competed. Ryan Crouch, scoring an incredible 48 points, won overall, Ray Sammons was second, with 40 on count back from Pete Law. For the Ladies, it was Sandra Williams with the winning score of 36 points, followed by Helen Steverson on 35 and then Pam Bonnett on 34.
Other results for the Club include Sandy Griffin and Gerry Squires winning the Ladies and Seniors match very convincingly.
The Thursday Roll Up was won by James Moule with 41 points last week and Stephen de Fraine with 42 this week.
The Seniors Winter League has now begun and Alan Saunders won last week with 42 points, whilst Keith Cridland came first with 38 this week.
Finally the Men’s Medal was won by Dave Shaw with a nett 66, followed by Gary Sanford with 67 on count back.
