A seniors vs. ladies match was held on Monday 1st April. Marjory Humphreys organised the successful event again, as she has done for several years and was delighted to announce a very convincing win for the Ladies – 4 games to 1. The game was followed by a meal in the Clubhouse and speeches from Senior Captain Steve Ogilvie and Lady Captain Kim Bradfield.
In the Midweek Stableford Tony Oakes scored 39 points and won on count back from Derek Hayden. On Thursday in the Roll Up Mick Joyner came in first with 43 points ahead of Mial Walker on 41. On the same day in bitter, cold conditions the Ladies played their second friendly Home game against St. Neots, narrowly losing by 1 point.
On Saturday the the Rotary Charity Stable ford took place, which Steph Denton won for the Ladies with 33 points, followed by Helen Steversons 31 and Tom Woods won for the Gents with 40, followed by Alan Lakeys 37. On Sunday the Medal was won by Simon Thompson with a nett 69, followed by Gary Noble with a nett 71. Meanwhile in the afternoon the first match of two, to retain the Durnham Shaw Trophy, a 4 Ball Better Ball against Newmarket, went well with the club gaining a 3 – 1 win.
Finally we are looking forward to hosting the Ladies Easter Am Am on Tuesday 16th April, for the 3rd year running. They will be welcoming 21 teams from around the country and we’re hoping for a glorious golfing day. We wish the Ladies Section and all their helpers good luck in the planning and organisation of this most prestigious event.
