Weekly News December 2nd02/12/2019
The weekly programme of golf on the Heath was much reduced due to the November rain, though Royston Golfers remain fortunate in that their Course is open almost every day of the year.
On Thursday the Roll Up players ventured out into the wet conditions and Declan Shilton, very closely followed by Barry Buckerfield, was able to show them all the way round with his winning score of 36 points on count back. On the same day the Ladies Section had decided not to brave the weather and set up The Putting Round instead! They had a series of 8 Putting Activities organised in the Lounge to follow through in their teams. It was unusual but good fun. The winners with 81 points were Kim Bradfield, Steph Denton and Sandra Joyner.
In the Friday Winter League Keith Cridland came in first with 38 points, with John Johnson second with his 35.
Then at the weekend the Medal games for the Men saw Jonathan Mowatt winning the Saturday game with nett 72, on count back from Gary Sandford and with a much larger field, Oliver Gardiner won on Sunday with nett 69, over Stewart Hart’s 70.
