Weekly news February 10th

It seemed that Spring had arrived early this week as the Midweek golfers basked in glorious sunshine. In beautiful conditions Ken Jackson won the Wednesday Stableford with an impressive 42 points, ahead of Henry Wanchoo and Alan Saunders on 40 points each.
The good weather continued into Thursday and the Roll Up golfers took advantage of the warmer climate. It was Paul Toby who came first with 40 points, followed closely by Trevor Sweeting with 39 and father, Graham Toby, making third place on count back with 38.
On the same day the Ladies played their Stableford competition, which proved a much more popular game for them after suffering the bitter cold wind at the start of the week. Steph Denton won with 31 points, followed by Pam Bonnett with 28. The Ladies then played their Alternate Stableford on Saturday which Wendy Hallums won with 31 points, followed by Leila Shafarenko on 28. As a result Wendy Hallums is the overall winner on count back.
The Friday Winter League was played with Alan Evans in first place scoring 36 points, just one ahead of Ken Griffin.
The Saturday Swindle was very well supported this week, due no doubt to the threatening forecast for Sunday, which sadly stopped players from going out. Chris Paxton was the winner with a wonderful 42 points, ahead of Gary Thorp’s 40.
