Weekly News July 29th


Lady Captain Kim Bradfield celebrated wins in both scorching heat and the pouring rain this week. As the temperature soared on Tuesday the Ladies played for the Three Clubs and a Putter Cup. After battling the hot conditions Kim Bradfield won with 37 points, ahead of Steph Denton on 34. She was again triumphant on Saturday, as the Ladies played for either the Long Handicap Cup or the Symes Cup [dependent on handicap]. With the rain pouring down she came in first with another 37points, ahead of Sandra Williams to win the Symes Cup, whilst Carolyn Devaney, her winning partner at the John O’Gaunt Ladies Invitation last Thursday, won the Long Handicap Cup.
Meanwhile in the Seniors game on Monday John Johnson won on count back with 36points, over Ian Gavine. In the Thursday Roll Up only 8 members braved the excessive weather which Ian Dell won with 37points ahead of Alan Evans’ 36.
At the weekend the Swindle was won by James Kidd with 38points over Steve Rogers’ 37 and the 4 Ball Betterball Sunday Competition was won by Colin Smith and Allen Miller with 41points, just one point better than Stephen Brooker and Andy Peters.
Finally the Senior Scratch team performed very well on Sunday beating Essendon 6 and half to 1 and half and now have just one more match to play next month against Ashridge.
