The Ladies started their round of Friendly matches this week with a game against Saffron Walden. Both sides were keen to get out on the course but the gale force winds and rain on Thursday made it very challenging indeed. The result was a creditable draw which both teams were more than happy to accept after playing in such conditions. In other news, Kath Caunce won the Ladies Morning 12 hole Stableford on Tuesday. Also Lady Captain Kim Bradfield and Kiyoko McLellan played at Letchworth Golf Club, having qualified to the next round of the Daily Mail Foursomes. Sadly they lost their game against a well matched opposition with home advantage.
The Mens Section continues to see high scoring with Keith Cridland winning on Wednesday. He came in with 36 points, ahead of Roger Craigen with 35. In the Thursday Roll Up Gary Pullin scored 35 points ahead of Rob Mc Shane with 33. On Friday in the Winter League a delighted Ken Griffin scored 45 points, ahead of Pete Law on 42.
Finally on Saturday in the Charity Stableford, The Hospital Cup was won by Denise Moody for the Ladies, with Helen Steverson in second place and by Sam Chipperfield for the Men on count back from Pete Rutter.
Members have recently been enjoying music nights at the Club. Last Friday they were entertained by Do Do Bones, a band including the wonderful sounds of a double bass and very unusual but excellent vocals from the lead singer. Everyone there was impressed by their sound and creativity. This Friday, 15th March they are holding their annual Music Quiz.
