Weekly news March 16th

The club hosted a very successful Seniors’ Dinner on Saturday Evening. It was an occasion for looking forward to the new season and the members with their guests enjoyed a lovely meal prepared by James Bedford. Many thanks were expressed to Stuart Knight for organising the Raffle and to Keith Taylor who added just the right touch with roses and chocolates for the Ladies.
This week at last the golfing programme seems to be getting started. The increased daylight and less rain has encouraged more to get out and play recently.
The Seniors played their Medal game on Wednesday, which Keith Taylor won with nett 70, followed by Dave Rowell with nett 72.
The Thursday Roll Up was convincingly won by Sid Seward with 37 points, followed by Mark Bonnett’s 33 and the Friday Winter League game was won by Mike Freeman also with 37 points on count back from Senior Captain Alan Hootton.
At the weekend it was Colin Copeland who won the Saturday Medal game with a fabulous nett 65, ahead of Oliver Gardiner who came second with nett 68 on count back. In the Ladies Medal Tracey Parsons won with nett 77, ahead of Helen Steverson’s nett 79.
Finally the Sunday Stableford was won by Peter Tidey with 36 points, ahead of Nicholas Scott’s 35 on count back.
