Members have been representing the Club in various away matches this week.
On Sunday the Men’s team played away at Stockbrook GC in the second round of the Annotata Cup and celebrated a close win of 3 games to 2. Then on Thursday the Roll Up group played a very enjoyable Away Day at Newmarket where Chris Hill won with 38 points over Tony Skinner’s 31. Also Keith Cridland and John Johnson were beaten in the second round of the Crameri Cup by Stocks GC.
And finally Lady Captain Kim Bradfield played at Saffron Walden in the England Golf Regional Medal Final, though sadly only achieved 30th place out of 80.
This week at Royston the Men have played a mixture of games in much warmer weather, beginning with a Stableford which Dave Millership won with 37 points on count back over Jon – Jo Pitts. The Seniors Summer League started on Monday with Captain Steve Ogilvie leading the way with 40 points, over Pete Law’s 38. On Wednesday 39 golfers joined in the Over 70’s against the Under 70’s match. The former winning by 6 games to 4. Meanwhile the Ladies Medal, for which the winner receives the Paula Noble Trophy was won by Helen Steverson on count back from Kath Caunce.
At the weekend the Men’s medal was won by James Smith with nett 64, from Des Wain on nett 65 and the Sunday AM Competition was won by Clive Middlemass on 39 points, over Keith Cridland’s 38.
