The clubs four new Captains began their first, and some may say, their most nerve wrecking event of the year on Sunday. It was the Annual Drive In. Thankfully they all held their focus and successfully drove the balls from the edge of the Putting Green out onto the Heath, to the delight of the Members who were there to cheer them on. Much relieved Captains, with their guests and Club Members went on to enjoy a delicious Carvery lunch at the Club. The day had begun with a Drive In 4Ball Betterball game which was won by Keith Cridland and his partner Paul Noonan, with 43 points on count back, ahead of Ray Sammons and Gary Fortune.Over the weekend the Saturday Swindle was won by Paul Thompson with 39 points, followed by Jeff Hunt with 37 and the match between the Ladies and the Gents was a great success for the Ladies.Other results during the week were Jenny Jarvis leading the way in the Ladies Medal on Thursday, with Sandy Griffin coming in second place. In the Thursday Roll Up Medal it was Lee Rogers in first place with nett 69, whilst Pete Law came in with nett 73.Then in the Senior Winter League on Friday, George Hopkins won with 34 points, just ahead of Pete Law’s 33.
