Members enthusiastically welcomed the Royston Town Band on Friday Evening for a very festive Carols Night. This event continues to be one of the best Christmas highlights on the golfing calendar and was thoroughly enjoyed by all. In addition to the lively Band sound, the new Captains, Chris and Kim performed a fun duet for the audience and a collection of nearly £200 was made in support of Royston Parish Church.
Golf this week has been more challenging, as the frosty conditions and gale force winds have prevented many from playing. Congratulations should go to the few hardy members who struggled to remain upright and complete their Medal rounds on Saturday morning. In the Ladies competition Tracey Parsons came in first with Helen Steverson second. Martin Davidson won the Mens competition with a nett 72 on count back, with Ben Bennett second. On Sunday morning the Men’s 4BBB was won by Jon-jo Pitts and Mark Moule with 45 points, helped by Jon-jo’s 5 point hole in one on the 10th !
During the week the Ladies held their 12 hole Christmas Competition, won by Steph Denton, with Kath Caunce in second. This was followed by a very enjoyable Christmas Lunch and fun afternoon. The Thursday Roll Up was won by Stewart Hart with 39 points, followed by Rob McShane on 38. Finally, the Friday Winter League winner was John Galloway with Alan Greenbank second on count back
