The Ladies Section hosted their Annual January Luncheon on Thursday. Following a 12-hole game in bitterly cold conditions, they returned to the Club to join past member guests for a very welcome and enjoyable lunch. In addition to the match presentations, which saw Sandy Griffin with 22 points coming overall first in the day’s game, she also picked up the Most Improved Player Trophy for 2018. Meanwhile Kim Bradfield was announced as the Golf Aggregate Winner for the best Medal rounds average last year and will go forward to play in the East Regional Final at Saffron Walden in May. However even more importantly, the Ladies took the opportunity of celebrating with one of their most active, popular and knowledgeable members. A beautiful bouquet of flowers was given to Marjory Humphreys on the day of her 60th Wedding Anniversary to husband and Royston golfer, John.
Other results for the week show Pete Law topping the list again in the Friday Winter League Stableford with 37 points over Ken Griffin with 36 on count back. The Thursday Roll Up Medal game saw Mial Walker in first with a nett 67 followed by Lee Rogers’s nett 71. The Saturday Medal was won by Gary Sandford with a nett 67 over Trevor Sweeting’s 69 and finally on Sunday in the 4BBB competition Gary Noble and Mark Moule won with 44 points over Dave Shaw and his partner Malcolm Cooper, who scored 42.
