Weekly news round up October 15th

October 19, 2018

Members have been enjoying fabulous Autumn weather during the week but sadly the weekends have proved very different recently. Only the very tenacious players have dared go out in such blustery winds and rain. Thus it was impressive to see that the Club Captain’s Mixed Away Day at Whitehill Golf Club went ahead, even though participants were given the choice to postpone. In the end a very bedraggled group came in after completing 18 holes, all in good spirits but delighted to be finished nevertheless. The winning team was Lady Captain Sandra and David Williams with 44 points, followed closely by Lady Vice Captain Kim Bradfield and Vice Captain Chris Watson with 43 points. At the Club, Paul Noonan won the Sunday morning competition with 39 points on count back from Richard Collett.
On Saturday the Gents just beat the Ladies and were presented with the Boot Trophy after celebrating with a 2 course meal. The Swindle was won by Jason Williams with 36 points on count back from 3 others.
During the week the Ladies played their last Friendly this season against The Gogs, which they lost. But on Thursday they held their annual Autumn Meeting, where following a 2 course meal they presented the Summer Eclectic, the Birdie and the Ping prizes, before awarding the 1st Silver [and overall winner] prize to Sandy Griffin, with 35 points, and the 1st Bronze [and 2nd place] prize to Kath Caunce.
The Thursday Roll Up was won by James Moule with an amazing 43 points, followed by Andrew Maslen with 37 points.
And finally last Sunday the 4BBB competition was won by Anthony Geraghty and Ben Bennett with 44 points, followed by Pete Dunbar and David Shaw on 43.
