The club was very busy hosting another successful Senior Open last Friday. Participating were 28 teams of 3, representing 22 clubs from across 6 counties. The winners were a team from The Millbrook club who scored 82 points.
This past weekend saw the Ladies Club Championship and Bronze Trophy, a 36 hole match played over 2 days. In glorious September weather Kiyoko McLellan came first with a best gross of 177, whilst Tracey Parsons won the best nett with 149 points overall. The Bronze Trophy was won by Sandy Griffin with a gross of 209, whilst Val Squires achieved the best nett with 162 points.
The Veteran’s Tankard took place on Sunday, won by Alan Lakey with a gross of 68, ahead of Maurice Conybear, who scored 70. Also over the weekend the Saturday Swindle was won by Tony Skinner with 42 points followed by Martin Davidson with 40. The Men’s Medal on Sunday was won by Lee Bonney with a gross of 68, ,with Peter Rutter second with 69 on count back.
During the week the Senior Captain’s Day began with a downpour but Ken Griffin held out in the adverse conditions, winning the day with a round of 37 points, ahead of John Kelly, who came in with 36 on count back. Other prize winners were Dave Marsh and Keith Cridland for best front and back 9 respectively.
